Gayming for Pride
Fri Jun 27 2025It's been a while since my last post, but I've finally locked in and am here to share some (last minute) pride month content I've been working on. First up, I wanted to highlight some of the queer indie games that I've come to really love, either longtime favorites or new discoveries. But no one really reads this introductory text right? So let's get to the list.
Date Everything
This is the newest addition to my list - I'm not even 100% finished with the game yet but I'm charmed enough for it to have earned a place here. It's an incredibly unique game, dating sim meets point and click. Not every character resonated with me at the same level, and I would've enjoyed more depth in the storylines but the humor and clear heart put into it are what hooked me in.

Arcade Spirits
Arcade Spirits is my to date favorite visual novel game, so I can't make a list without it. It's fun, gamer-centric, heartfelt with a message and features one of my top video game romances (hiii Ashley). I still think about it anytime I have pizza bagels! I want to give a shoutout to Fiction Factory Games' other works here - I've enjoyed them all. Especially Penny Larceny!
1000xResist
There are many articles that explain in a better way how unique, monumental and transformative this game is. It recently won a Peabody Award and deserves all of the hype. Themes of identity, trauma, resistance and adolescent queerness meet dystopian sci-fi.
Coral Island
It's your classic farming sim game with a fun twist. I love the beautiful island setting, incredibly diverse cast of characters and the addition of ocean cleanup as a daily task. Plus cute animals and mermaids!!

Arcadia Fallen
A fun fantasy visual novel that I got more into than I anticipated! The characters are charming, the story both emotional and cozy enough to stay invested without stressing too much.

When the Night Comes
A supernatural visual novel with gorgeous art and compelling writing. There's magic, vampirism and even polyamory.

Butterfly Soup
A wonderful, silly game about queer, Asian-American youths who play baseball and navigate life together. It made me laugh out loud more than once, and there's additionally a delightful sequel!

Angela He Games
Angela He is a developer who makes small games you can often play just in the browser. Usually sapphic, they range from silly to heartbreaking, my favorite being Missed Messages.
